2020 MIPS Scores: HARP Account Creation

HARP is a portal set up by CMS that provides secure, confidential access to group and clinician MIPS information. In the most recent QPP update, we learned that final MIPS scores and any payment adjustments would be published exclusively to our provider clients through their HARP account and profile. Keet encourages each group to register for a HARP account to check their final MIPS scores against our reporting.

As your MIPS submission partner, Keet has partial insight into your score. However, it is critical that we continue to have full transparency into your final results. Providing our team access to your final, complete score will allow us to support you through any reconsideration, exception, or targeted review processes. It will also enable us to formulate data sets and Keet benchmarks.

The process to register for your organization HARP account:

  1. Register for a HARP account following the steps outlined in the QPP Access User Guide
    1. Register for a HARP account here. HARP requires remote identity proofing in this step.
    2. If you have previously signed into QPP.cms.gov, use those credentials in this step.
  2. Link your account to your practice. This step can be found outlined as Step 2 in the QPP Access User Guide.
    1. Sign in to your account on the QPP.cms.gov website, here.
    2. Navigate to Manage Access
    3. Select “Practice”
    4. Enter the quantity of Tax ID numbers connected to your organization
    5. Follow the steps to add your practice(s)
    6. The first user will need to be a Security Official. Subsequent users can be Staff Users.

CMS also created a role just for clinicians, it will allow them to see information relevant and specific to their participation in the Quality Payment Program. The Clinician role lets providers view their MIPS performance feedback, final score, and the payment adjustment information earned for each practice they are associated with. Providers may also view their MIPS eligibility details including low-volume threshold data) after signing up for this role. The process to register for your Clinician Role/HARP account is detailed below:

  1. Register for a HARP account following the steps outlined in the QPP Access User Guide
    1. Register for a HARP account here. HARP requires remote identity proofing in this step.
    2. If you have previously signed into QPP.cms.gov, use those credentials in this step.
  2. Verify your identity as a Clinician as detailed in Step 2b of the QPP Access User Guide
    1. Sign in to your account on the QPP.cms.gov website, here.
    2. Navigate to Manage Access
    3. Under the "Connect to Organization button", click the link that states, "Are you a clinician? Gain access to your practice here."
    4. Select the Individual Clinician type
    5. Utilizing the name from your HARP account, CMS attempts to identify who you are and the organizations you are associated with.
      • If there is an exact, unique match between the name on your HARP account and your name as displayed on the QPP Participation Status Lookup Tool, CMS will display a list of practices you are associated with. If you recognize these practices and the information displayed is correct, click Verify.
      • If the organizations associated with your information are incorrect, or if any of the displayed data does not match, click below the verify button on the link that states "If you don't recognize any of these organizations, try connecting manually here." This will initiate a Manual Verification process. Details on this process can be found under Step 2b within the QPP Access User Guide.

We hope this information proves beneficial to you during these changing procedures and timelines. Thank you for your cooperation in providing us with access to best support your business through the full completion of this process.
