Determine a MIPS Patient Reported Outcome Denominator

The denominator is determined by the total number of eligible patients who do not have an exclusion who are being treated a physical therapist (PT) or Occupational Therapist (OT), or PT or OT Group. Additionally, MIPS eligible patients who do not complete a second outcome survey will be excluded from the denominator.

Example:

  • 100 patients are seen for an initial evaluation in the clinic.
  • 70 of those patients are eligible for a MIPS patient reported outcome form based on their area of injury.
  • 20 of those 70 patients are excluded from participation because of clinical reasons.
  • 10 of the remaining 50 eligible patients do not complete a second patient reported outcome form.

The final denominator for these patients is 40.
